We did this last year, when the pub was open. We turned out all of the dining room lights, had candles everywhere and lots of folks thought it was really nice. Some even asked us to do it all of the time.
ReplyDeleteAt home, it's a good way to make yourself more aware of how many electricity-consuming devices you actually have.
Take a look at your electric meter before you do anything, then again after you turn off all of the lights, TVs, computers, etc. You'll see that it's still moving, but the difference is pretty surprising. Try to get it to stop completely (and without touching a circuit breaker).
It's harder than you think.
